Su edición en español fue publicada al año siguiente por Salamandra, traducida por Isabel Murillo Fort. El libro narra la historia de Amir, un niño del barrio Wazir Akbar Jan de Kabul, y de su mejor amigo, Hassan, un sirviente hazara de su padre. Amir se propone ganar una competición de cometas, aunque ello signifique sacrificar su amistad con Hassan.

The Kite Runner is the first novel by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini. Published in 2003 by Riverhead Books, it tells the story of Amir, a young boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, whose closest friend is Hassan.
This book is an epitome of what real world friendships mean. It puts an image of Afghanistan in front of your eyes and you are compelled to travel to the beautiful country of mountains... Hosseini has written a masterpiece and if you pick it up, be prepar
Tear jerker, add it to your reading list. A must read.
Of course this book is on the list! It's a really great and moving book about a rich Afghani boy and his poor friend. The book is full of really moving and sometimes shocking scenes that will make you somewhat addicted to the story - and rightly so. It's such a great story that there's a movie too!
